What Smile8 is

Smile8 is a personal wellness application that uses your device's camera, entirely on-device, to detect facial expressions (whether you are smiling) and encourage smiling during screen time. It is not a medical device and makes no medical or therapeutic claims.

Smile8 detects expressions; it does not infer, score, or report emotions, and it is intended solely for you to use on yourself. It is not to be used to monitor employees, students, or any other person, and must not be deployed in any workplace or educational setting to assess people.

License

Buying Smile8 grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on up to 3 of your own devices, for life, including all 1.x updates. A license key may be gifted before first activation; once activated it belongs to that person. Sharing an activated key is not permitted, and keys that show signs of sharing may be locked pending a support review.

Trial

The free trial covers your first 8 hours of monitored use. No account or payment details are required for the trial.

Purchases

Orders are processed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Paddle handles checkout, payment, taxes, and refunds under Paddle's buyer terms. See our refund policy.

Acceptable use

Use Smile8 only on devices you own or control, and only to monitor yourself. Do not use it to monitor another person.

Warranty & liability

Smile8 is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Piloto Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential damages; our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license.
